We will start the Central Swale Project straight away, as they say in the UK.
The Central Swale is the area where the mailboxes are and includes the entire water retention basin north of the pool.
You'll
notice that I have painted an initial suggested curb line. So, I'll be
out there walking the line and making adjustments to it.
If
you live north and east of the line it will be called, "The Siegfried
Line". If you live south and west of the line, it will be called, "The
Maginot Line".
Here's the price list for input to the curb line:
Opinions: $1
Strong Opinions $10
Opinions Strong Enough to Move the Line $20
I'm kidding of course... Opinions strong enough to move the line are $50.
Cabernet may be substituted for cash where the law allows.

I'll also be painting planting dots and circles for the new plants.
The
general idea of this project is to move the water away from the street
and walls and add beautifying plants, curbing, gravel and hummingbird
habitat. The project will resemble the project we did a few years back
along Juniper Street.
So, we will:
1. Draw and adjust the curb line as desired.
2. Spray the grass we intend on removing next to the street and walls.
3. Repair and paint the associated walls and any cars parked close enough for overspray
4. Adjust sprinkler positions as required.
5. Install curbing
6. Install plants
7. Install gravel
8. Toast the project
I've
included a few before and afters from the Juniper Street project.
Notice that the marquis were water damaged and the areas were completed
dead. We have refreshed them since these shots were taken, but they
are due again.
Yes.
The marquis were bathroom tiles on stucco. I know, right? The slate
pillars were just stucco. The wall tiles were about 10 - 20 % missing.
The area where the gate to Trader Joe's is was wall to wall grass, then
wall to wall cat litter and trash. It was horrid. Plus, about 50 feet
or so of the walls had crumbled to the ground. To the ground!
So, Bogle is a good cabernet.
See you on The Line!
Harry Allen
